Development

Context

POKROVENIK is a hybrid documentary project combining staged and observational material within a controlled black-and-white visual approach.
The project was developed as an author-driven film exploring psychological isolation through a restrained narrative structure and minimal dialogue.

The film moves between constructed situations and real environments, allowing atmosphere and duration to define the rhythm of the story rather than plot progression.
The intention of the project was to examine internal change through presence and observation, without relying on conventional dramatic structure.

Approach

The film was conceived as a hybrid form, combining documentary observation with staged sequences filmed under controlled visual conditions.
The black-and-white cinematography was used to reduce descriptive realism and focus on space, movement and silence.

Narrative development is based on continuity of mood rather than exposition, with the visual structure defining the progression of the film.

Development status

The project was independently produced as a pilot-format hybrid film and selected for:

Official Selection — Filmmaker Sessions Volume 1

Lift-Off Global Network, Pinewood Studios, UK

The existing version functions as a visual and structural reference for possible long-form development and international co-production.

Production

The film was produced with a compact crew and filmed in controlled locations combining staged scenes and documentary observation.

Editing, sound design and final postproduction were completed internally.
